Matthew Hiatt serves as our pulpit minister. You can expect to see him in the pulpit preaching and in the classrooms teaching on a regular basis. Matthew began full-time pulpit work in January of 2011 after James Hinkle retired. He began his work at Burns in the spring of 2006 as an associate, working alongside James in the teaching and preaching ministries.

Matthew is married to Leslie (Tiensvold) of Independence, MO. They have two children, Caleb and Katie. Matthew enjoys volunteering with the Dickson County Jail Chaplaincy and CareNet Pregnancy Center, and Churches of Christ Disaster Response Team. He graduated Freed-Hardeman University in 2006 with degrees in Bible and Computer Science. He completed his Master’s of Ministry in 2011 from Harding University and is currently working on his Doctorate of Ministry from Knox Theological Seminary.
